Summertime essentials:
In Minnesota right now, it has been really hot- and I mean- really hot. Summer came out of nowhere for me. I am definitely more of a fall enthusiast, and I tend to burn easier than others around me because I am so fair skinned. For majority, summer brings good weather, vacation (safely of course) and summer break. Doing nothing, and hanging out with friends and family.
While you are tanning outside, or enjoying a good cookout with the family, here are some of my summertime essentials to get me through the summer months!
Sunglasses:
Sunglasses are a must, I hate squinting my eyes, and sunglasses are always a great way to dress up an outfit as well! I have always found my favorite pairs from Target, or even YesStyle, not too expensive and always last forever.
Making sure they have 100% UVA protection is always something I look for as my eyes are very important to me, and I should take care of them.
Sunscreen:
What esthetician would not say to bring sunscreen? lol I often emphasize the need for sunscreen to my friends, and they always think I am crazy to care that much, but I always leave the beach or lake feeling great, and they are always complaining about their sunburnt shoulders, so we will never know.
For the face, my ride or die has been the Dr. Jart+ Every Sun Day SPF 50+, I have gone through three bottles of this, and I know I need to try new sunscreens, but I trust this brand, and I love the way this sunscreen sits on my skin beautifully.
For the body, I have been using the Neutrogena Ultra Sheet Body Mist with SPF 100+ which is great to apply to skin, and rub in for easy application. Super convenient to bring in your bag to a day at the beach, or on the go out with your friends.
Handbags:
I never liked carrying a lot of stuff around, and switching to a smaller bag has been so great for keeping my purse clean, and help me feel more organized. I love small shoulder bags, I thrift my handbags, because they are older and vintage, and cost less than five bucks.
A small handbag is great to keep the essentials. A wallet, sunglasses, lip balm, sunscreen to reapply, a mask, and a scrunchy or a hair clip.
Lip balm (preferably with SPF):
I always need lip balm, no matter what the weather is. Finding a lip balm with SPF for the summer is great! I just got my close friend the Fresh Sugar Lip Balm SPF 15. I love these, and with different shades you can have one for every mood you are in this summer.
Scrunchies or hair clips:
I love me a good hair clip, I always keep a scrunchy in my purse in case it gets hot and I need to pull my hair out of the way. Hair clips really elevate a look, and always fun to pair with an outfit.
I find most of my scrunchies and hair clips from YesStyle, super affordable, and so many cute designs and colors.
Pimple Patches:
As the weather changes, my acne-prone skin is having a difficult time adjusting, so my skin is getting a little more oily, and leaving behind more pimples. The Neogen Dermatology Clear Spot Patch are great for helping pimples go away and heal faster. I have loved these, and they are my tried and true. They are undetectable, and keep the pimple from being picked at, or the skin under from being damaged.
Bucket Hats:
Covering the top of my head is good in the summer, as it protects my scalp from the sun and the damage it can endure. I love bucket hats, as they work well at hiding any bed head, or day four hair (guilty). They are also a way to go outside if you forgot your sunglasses. I find mine anywhere, I always look for bucket hats when I am shopping, because you need know what kind of deal you could get!
Good shoes:
Now I am not saying you have to buy the most expensive shoes out there, but good, comfortable shoes. I like good walking shoes because I love going places, and my shoes do get worn down fast. I like to switch brands every time I need a new pair of shoes, so I try Adidas, Nike, Puma, etc. the list goes on. I recommend getting a new pair of shoes every few months to help your feet be the best shape they can be, because they do take you everywhere.
