Drugstore or High-end?

Luxury has always been something of a novelty or me, and maybe to you as well. I found that as a child, I did not care about name brands, but as I grew up, my friends and classmates would show up in the newest shoes or with the brand new iPhone.

I started to want more, but of course I could not afford it. I was a teenage in a middle class family, we just bought what we needed and did not think that we needed expensive goods.

Now as an adult, having my own job, and (trying) to save money. I have found more often than not, sometimes designer or expensive does not always mean good quality.

How does money fit into this?

When it comes to the price of a good -lets use makeup for an example- how does a brand make goods, and still make profit?

When it comes to makeup, like a lipstick, The brand has to come up with an ingredient list, what the lipstick with have in it to make it markable and profitable. They then would make the product, test it, and then make a price. Once combining the cost of labor and ingredients to make the lipstick.

Brands want to make money, plain and simple.

How do I know if a product is worth the price?

The best answer is to read reviews, learn about the brand. I really try to learn as much about a brand and the product before I purchase it. Because I want a great experience with the product.

If I am on the fence about buying a product, I leave it in my cart, and wait a week. If I keep thinking about it, then I will purchase it. I like to give myself time to really think about what I am purchasing before I try it so I can have the best experience.

And of course- trial and error. I am definitely guilty of buying a product because of the name or popularity of the brand. I often find that if I see too many ads or sponsors with a product, I usually take a little longer to think about buying the product.

Now that social media is so big, and influencers, and celebrities are dipping their feet into the skincare and beauty world. I think peer pressure gets to us when we see our favorite influencers or celebrities using a product, we find ourselves wanting to be like them, so we buy the product.

Now, I do not think it is bad to want to try those products, but we should always take it with a grain of salt.

Ask yourself the next time you are on the fence about purchasing a product, “Do I really want this, or is it because everyone else has it?”

Which one is better?

When it comes to skincare, I would say whichever gives the best results for your budget. I find that the majority of my skincare products are reasonably priced, while some of my makeup products are more expensive, because of the quality that I want in my makeup look.

I think it always depends on what you are looking for in a product.
