Best Sheet Masks
When it comes to the aesthetic, I must have a sheet mask to feel like a vogue cover model.
Lol even though that won’t happen, it does not mean I won’t take advantage of a self-care moment. I think the best way to relax or just take a moment to enjoy nothing for me, is a sheet mask.
What exactly does a sheet mask do?
Sheet masks can do different things depending on the key ingredients. Sheet masks are usually soaked in a serum or essence to give the skin a boost without the mess of an applied mask that you would have to wash off. They are a one use only, and this makes them convenient and easy to use.
I find that I will do sheet mask in the morning, while at night I would prefer a wash off mask. I think in the morning I want something easy to take off and continue with my morning.
Sheet masks can do all kind of things, they can hydrate, calm, brighten or detoxify the skin. There are so many brands out with different kind of sheet masks.
Where did sheet mask come from?
They can be traced back to ancient India, where they practiced Ayurveda, which is a lifestyle meaning “life and knowledge”. They would make face and body masks to improve their appearance and to benefit their health. Sheet masks also came widely known in Japan, and East Asia. They had cloths soaked in different kind of fruits and plants to help their skin, and prevent the signs of aging.
Do I need to use sheet masks?
Of course not! It is not a must have in everyone’s routine. I think they are a fun way to change up your routine, and a way to help any concerns your skin may present. Some people who may have contact dermatitis, would not want to use sheet masks often or at all, since having something on the skin for too long can irritate the skin more than help.
If you want a calming effect:
I’m From Mugwort Sheet Mask
This is a great mask to calm the skin. I use this sheet mask as well as the jar form. Probably one of the best masks out there in my opinion. Super hydrating, easy to use, and contains 91.45% mugwort essence.
Burt’s Bees Refreshing Cucumber Sheet Mask
Cucumbers are great at calming the skin, and this is a great sheet mask you can easily find at the store! I love popping this in the fridge a few minutes before and then using it- super calming!
If you want a hydrating, plump mask:
Rovectin Dr. Mask Aqua
I love everything Rovectin, this mask contains the essence from their Treatment Lotion. This sheet mask is amazing at hydrating the face, and giving you that glass skin effect. If you want a cooling effect, I would recommend leaving this in the fridge for a few minutes before applying it.
Abib Gummy Sheet Mask Aqua Sticker
This is probably the best fitting sheet mask I have ever tried, it fits amazing, I have a smaller face shape, but I often find that my cheeks are larger, so the mask never covers all the way to the sides of my face, but this one fits perfectly. Besides the fit of this sheet mask, this is an amazing hydrating mask, that feels like a second skin.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Hydrogel Mask
Containing hyaluronic acid, this mask is a gulp of water for your skin. I love to use this mask in the summer or on a day that I was out in the sun for a long time, it feels so cooling and hydrating without irritating the skin.
If you want a brightening effect:
TONYMOLY I’m Real Rice Mask Sheet
I like using this for a quick brightening look, it helps to hydrate the skin, while helping with any discoloration or dark spots. I have a few spots on my cheeks, and I always see a difference in the darkness of them when I use this mask.
Sioris Make It Bright Sheet Mask
A gentle sheet mask that helps to brighten while providing hydrating benefits as well. Centella asiatica extract, and ginseng to calm and nurture the skin, and broccoli extract that is rich in vitamin C to brighten the skin. I love this sheet mask, because very few brightening masks make my skin not freak out. This one is calming, and leaves my skin so glowy and happy with the brightness it gives after.
If you want a detoxifying or clearing mask:
Rovectin Dr. Mask Sheet Cica
Containing calamine, madecassoside, and BHA, this sheet mask helps to calm down irritated or inflamed skin, and soothes sensitive skin. While BHA can gently exfoliate the skin, keeping the skin clear and healthy. I like how gentle this mask is for acne-prone skin. Obviously, if you are medication for your acne, or skin condition, I would always consult with your doctor, to make sure an acne-prone sheet mask like this one is right for your skin at the moment.
